1. I would like to travel to New Zeland in the future.
2. The most interesting place I have ever been was the Cinque Terre in Italy.
3. I decided to pursue a degree in Industrial Design because I see myself as a creative problem solver.
4. When I'm trying to come up with an idea for a project I go to the kitchen because there are many problems that arise when in the kitchen.
5. The best project I ever made was a stair assistive device for the physically impaired.
I chose the word Spry which is an abberviation of the word sprightly and is of Scandenavian descent from approximately c.1746. The word means active, nimble, energetic, and brisk. Spry feels like a hard word that is very light almost white in color or perhaps red. It seems to have a fast paced aura that is very energetic. The shapes that I think of when I hear the word spry are triangles, and very curvacious lines. There seems to be something chaotic about the rythm of the word like it has no bounds and doesn't follow a particular beat.
.........................................................................Me As a Suitcase, Monster, and Map.................................................................................
This suitcase would be pure black, darker than any black suitcase there is and has been. The shell would be hard plastic covered with neoprene so as to provide a durable and neat finish. It would have black, translucent wheels much like one would see on a pair of rollerblades as they very functional and smooth. The handle would protrude with the push of a button and retract with the same action. It would be made of black metal with a black lacquered wooden handle. No pockets to be seen on the outside, just one simple zipper wrapping from one side to the other. Inside, one would find a dark brown interior and a pair of black flat pants, a black button down shirt, with a tan belt, and tan shoes. One would also find a slim black notebook.
This monster would only be visible to those who are aware that their lives are totally normal but somehow eerie in a way that is mostly unnatural. This monster is powerful and can will his influence over even a single blade of grass. He causes the grass to grow as tall as two-story house and die as he passes it. Even in a crowded room he will isolate you leaving a feeling of desolation and helplessness. He is persuasive and impossible to resist. He will lure you to the empty field of dead grass where you will stay. You will hear things of undeniable agony simply to be reminded of the total isolation for which he has lured you into. Much like the grass he will make sure you die, normal and alone yet wholly unnatural.
This map is three dimensional to the touch but two dimensional to the eye. It can be confusing and dangerous to those who know not of its nature but once understood there is no answer for what it can provide. The map is vaster than the last reach of space and incomparably deep to any ocean. Should one remove it from his pocket he would surely be consumed by its density. For this reason it is dire to understand its potential or leave it misunderstood in the darkness of the pocket. The map has no owner and is passed from one person to the next so it must be understood before the new owner can use it. One owner used this map to challenge its own power and was guided to a rock. The owner took the rock and lost all concern for the map. The map was then in the hands of a new owner but was only used once.

I found your image most interesting.. The cool tones that you used through translucent layering gives a very "surreal" effect. The composition gives a great impression of movement and flow throughout the image. The ghostly images give almost an "out of body" experience or hallucination. Possibly, things felt and seen while snowboarding? I think the collection of images, colors and arrangement give the viewer a great understanding of your subject matter felt in all uses of the senses.

Very interesting collage. I am most impressed by your vector illustration and use of its pieces throughout. The use of cool colors and images conveys snowboarding and cold, but intrestingly I perceived an abstract portrayal of fireworks using the "eyes" and "eyebrows" from your portrait. I interpret this as an explosive and exciting adventure.

The first thing that I notice about this picture is the way that he has placed his own image into the collage in many different places. I really enjoy how his face is hidden in so many areas of the picture. The use of the eyeballs to create an entirely different image is my favorite part. The eyes look as if they have been painted which is also really cool. The colors give a feeling of snow or water which works well with the snowboarder picture. The composition is interesting with the large face in the middle and then the swirl of eyeballs that go around his head.

Barrett: Your menu image looks good on my computer, but there's no hotspots and I still haven't seen your collage to grade it. Can you get this running?
2/13/08 Barrett: This site has a lot of suggestions but I'm not sure which one pertains to you:

I will look at it some more later.
